Keep Liberty Beautiful

Several of Button Gwinnett's students participated in the Keep Liberty Beautiful Poster Contest on the topic of “Being a Good Neighbor” during the fall of 2012. Close to 600 posters were submitted by Liberty County's elementary school students for the contest.

The winners included two of our students! (I submitted the work by classroom teacher's name instead of my own.)

Project: Art Journaling With Children

Yesterday I got the greatest gift from DonorsChoose.org.

498 Sax Art Journals for my 3rd & 4th grade students were delivered to my classroom!

Now is the time to:
Model by letting my students see me journaling.

Get this party started!

Today I began by posing the question:
    What Is An Art Journal?

How is an art journal different from an art portfolio or sketchbook?

This week I am sharing sketchbooks that I have created over the years. I've brought some of my own art supplies from home, and am letting careful 3rd through 5th grade classes use these to create their first journal entry.. (My fifth grade will be journaling in a digital and portfolio format.)
I am also showing images of other art journals and pages from Pinterest and the blog Jenny's Sketchbook.

Here are some pictures of their first journal entries:
